The Wulongtan, or Five Dragon Pool Park, in Jinan kicked off its 20th cherry blossom festival on March 15, which will run until April 10.
A series of cherry flowers themed activities will be held during the festival for visitors to admire the beautiful cherry blossoms, experience the culture of cherry flowers, and have a taste of cherry flower made delicacies.
For example, a parade of people dressed in hanfu (traditional Chinese-style clothing) is scheduled to be held every Saturday and Sunday in the park. Visitors can write and leave their wishes hanging under the cherry trees in a special area that has been set up.
In addition, folk handicrafts, such as sugar painting, will be performed on site, while cherry flowers-made creative accessories, cakes, and ice cream will be available for visitors to enjoy.
Five Dragon Pool Park started to introduce cherry blossoms, mainly Prunus subhirtella at the beginning, from the 1980s, and it is the only park in Jinan that has formed a high scale of cherry blossom planting. To date, it is home to nearly 300 cherry flower trees.
